Manual Wheel Chair is the thing of the past
With current technology, it will be crazy if one prefers manual wheel chair when he/she has the financial power to purchase a powered one. However, there are traditionalist (usually old people) who prefer to use the manual wheel chair. Not that they dislike technology, they just don’t see the need for motorized and electric powered wheel chairs.
They know the usefulness and the mobility of those machine but they still the traditional manual wheel chair. Some call them stubborn and some call them stupid. But they have pride. They want to move their lives with their own hands and not by some heartless machine. They don’t like to be seen as ‘lazy’.
Times When Manual Wheel Chair Is Needed
Sometime, people use wheel chair for temporary usage. They expect their injury to recover in a few weeks. There is no need for expensive motorized wheel chair in this case. Not everyone in a wheelchair is paralyzed for life. Sometimes an injury such as a sprained ankle or broken leg can put a person in a wheel chair for a short period of time while their body heals. A traditional manual wheel chair will do just fine.
A wheel chair is needed short term sometimes during an emergency. A woman going into labor will often be given a wheel chair at the hospital in order to be taken to her room. Is there a need for an electric wheel chair? No! It is just not wise to use a electric is over a manual wheel chair in such case.
Financially, some cannot afford a motorized wheel chair and thus are forced to use a manual wheel chair. Even though automatic wheel chairs are becoming more affordable and insurance and Medicare can sometimes cover the costs, a person in a dire financial situation must turn to the cheapest alternative. Manual wheel chair can often be obtained for free from various charitable organizations that provide wheel chairs to those who need them.
Manual Wheel Chair Work Just As Well
As mentioned, there are many scenario where the manual wheel chairswork better. Do not believe that anyone in a wheel chair has an automatic wheel chair. Some prefer manual wheel chair while others want the automated version. Whatever it is, having a wheel chair is better than nothing!
